SPORT FREESTYLE
RULES
-
The Sport Freestyle division is intended for newer players early in their freestyle career or those competing in freestyle for the first time, looking to gain experience and confidence. There are two divisions — a 12 and Under division and 13 and Up division.
Each Sport Freestyle division features a one-round final with any style allowed (e.g., 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A).
Performances are 1-minute long, set to music of the player’s choice.
-
We are using a fully subjective scoring method to allow for new players to focus on building fun routines with their favorite tricks and less penalty on mistakes.
With this, there is no clicking for technical tricks and no negative points or major deductions for mistakes, losing spin or switching yo-yos.
-
Awards are given to the top three performers of each age division.
-
Players entering the Sport Freestyle Division are not eligible to compete in the 1A, Dual Hand (2A + 3A), 4A, or 5A Freestyle Champions Divisions.
The Champions Divisions are intended for more advanced competitors. If you’d like to enter an additional event, consider participating in the Trick Ladder or Beginner’s Luck Trick Contest.
If a player registers for both a Sport Freestyle and a Champions Division, our team will reach out before the contest to determine the best fit and issue a refund.
