DIVISIONS + RULES
CHAMPIONS — 1A, DUAL HAND (2a + 3A), 4A and 5A FREESTYLE
The Champions Freestyle Divisions are made up of four separate divisions (1A, Dual Hand (2A + 3A), 4A and 5A) with the top state resident being named champion.
1A Freestyle Division: Freestyle performances with one long-spinning string trick yo-yo. This division will have a prelim and final round with the top 10 scores advancing to the final.
Dual Hand (2A + 3A) Freestyle Division: Freestyle performances involve two looping yo-yos (2A) or two long-spinning string trick yo-yos (3A). This division is a one-round final.
4A Freestyle Division: Freestyle performances with one or more yo-yos where the string is not attached to the yo-yo(s). This division is a one-round final.
5A Freestyle Division: Freestyle performances with one yo-yo where the string is attached to a counterweight instead of the competitor’s finger. This division is a one-round final.
SPORT FREESTYLE
The Sport Freestyle division is intended for newer players early in their freestyle career or those competing in freestyle for the first time, looking to gain experience and confidence.
This division features a one-round final with any style allowed (e.g., 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A). The 1-minute performances are all subjectively judged.
DOC LUCKY’S DUOS
Presented by Doc Lucky’s Yo-Yo Talk, teams of two players perform a two (2) minute routine together in this fun, outside-the-box one-round final.
YO-YO TRICK LADDER
The trick ladder division challenges every competitor to climb a set list of increasingly difficult yo-yo tricks - testing skill, precision and composure under pressure.
This division is a one-round final with one person competing at a time – in other words, this is NOT a head-to-head contest.
BEGINNER’S LUCK TRICK CONTEST
The Beginner’s Luck Trick Contest is a fresh take on traditional Sport Ladder, and is open to anyone outside of 1A and X Freestyle division competitors.
